Opening hours:

The Tourist Information Point in Vallouise is in the centre of the village of Vallouise in the church square is open : 

 

From Monday to Friday : from 09:00 to 12:30 and from 14:00 to 17:00.

The Saturday from 14:00 to 17:00. Closed on Sunday.

Access to "La Vallouise"

To reach our villages, the conditions on the road are normal. 

 

The road is open at the tunnel of Les Claux to go up to Ailefroide. The road is closed to go to Pré de Mme Carle at Ailefroide.

 

The road to Chambran is open.

 

The road to Entre les Eygues is also open.

 

 

The TUNNEL OF CHAMBON is situated on the road (RD1091) linking GRENOBLE with VALLOUISE by the Col du Lautaret.

 

Vital work is taking place on the tunnel but it will be opened at key periods during the year.

 

The dates and times when the tunnel of Chambon on the RD1091 will be open/closed are as follows :

 

  • Closed 24h/24h from 6th March at 12h00 until 13 July 2017 at 08h00.
  • Open 24h/24h from 08h00 on 13th July to 21h00 on 24th July 2017.
  • Open (from 05h00 to 21h00) from 24th July to 21 August 2017.
  • Closed 24h/24h from 12h00 on 21st August to 08h00 on 15th December 2017.
  • Open difinitively on 15th December 2017 (time to be confirmed).

 

During the periods when the tunnel is closed, those vehicles which are authorised by the prefectoral order, may use the emergency road the RS1091 on the Southern side of the lake.  ( Autos of UNDER 8m long and weighing UNDER 3.5 tons and NOT towing a trailer or caravan). Other vehicles must use the deviations indicated.

It is also possible to obtain a ticket for the Frejus Tunnel at a reduced rate of 18 €, until January 2018 by visiting the website :

It’s necessary to reserve at least 2 working days (48 hours) in advance of your journey.  The ticket will be e-mailed to you.

 

The valley of Vallouise can also be reached by Gap and the Col Bayard or by the Col de la Croix Haute.

BY CAR - THE D1091 OVER THE COL DE LAUTARET AND THE TUNNEL DE CHAMBON HAS TEMPORARILY CLOSED.

Due to vital work taking place on the Chambon Tunnel there are periods when the tunnel on the road which links Grenoble and Briançon, the D1091, will be closed.  

 

The D1091 tunnel will be open during peak summer season (see dates below), enabling direct access between Grenoble and Briançon.  Further work will, subsequently, take place before the tunnel reopens again for the winter season.

 

The dates and times when the tunnel of Chambon on the RD1091 will be open/closed are as follows :

 

  • Closed 24h/24h from 6th March at 12h00 until 13 July 2017 at 08h00.
  • Open 24h/24h from 08h00 on 13th July to 21h00 on 24th July 2017.
  • Open (from 05h00 to 21h00) from 24th July to 21 August 2017.

There are several ways to get to La Vallouise.

From the north: by the A48 motorway as far as Grenoble then towards Gap by the RN85 road from Grenoble. Once you reach Gap take the RN 94 towards Briançon and when you reach l’Argentière la Bessée, then left and follow the signs to Vallouise.

 

Via Italy: by the A43 motorway Chambéry/la Maurienne and the Fréjus tunnel (additional fee), then over the Montgenèvre pass. Drive through Briançon, towards Gap. In the village of Prelles, turn right and follow the signs to Vallouise.

 

Possible route (until the first snow falls) via the Galibier pass.  

Leave the A43 motorway at St Michel de Maurienne, then head towards the Galibier pass. Drive down to Briançon heading towards Gap then in the village of Prelles turn right and follow the signs to Vallouise.

 

From the South: Take the A51 motorway to La Saulce, then head towards Briançon on the RN94 road. Upon reaching l’Argentière-la-Bessée, turn left and follow the signs to Vallouise.

By train :

The closest SNCF train station is l’Argentière-les-Ecrins.  When booking, be sure to specify the full name of the station, as otherwise you may end up with a ticket to “Argentière” in the Savoie area! 

 

There is then a shuttle service to the area of your accommodation, or you can call a taxi. You will find timetables for the shuttle services in the brochure and documentation section.

Car-sharing :

In Vallouise you will find a car-sharing board at the Vallouise Tourist Office. Before arriving in La Vallouise, you can organise your journey using the following sites Bla Bla car or 05covoiturage.

By plane :

The closest airports are Turin and Marseille.

 

You will be able to hire a car from there.

We hope that these responses will help you to answer some of the questions you may have, whilst preparing for your arrival in Vallouise.

Who are we ?

The aim of the Vallouise Tourism Office is to provide guidance and promotion as well as welcoming visitors to the three villages that we represent: Pelvoux – Vallouise and Les Vigneaux.

The Vallouise Tourism Office, in the centre of the village of Vallouise, is open all year.

 

During the winter season, there is also an information desk at the Pelvoux-Vallouise ski resort (in the hall where ski passes can be purchased) that you can contact on +33 (0)6 82 39 94 71. In the summer, there is an information desk in Ailefroide (Maison de la Montagne) which is part of the village of Pelvoux.

 

Raphaël and Valérie are here to greet you all year round.

During the 2014-15 winter season, there were more staff with hostess Sophie and two seasonal receptionists.

 

We work in collaboration with Destination Ecrins, that promotes the Pays des Ecrins, as well as with the other local tourist offices in Puy Saint Vincent, l'Argentière la Bessée and Freissinières.

Les partenaires de l’Office bénéficient d’une mise en avant sur les publications on-line et off-line de la Vallouise.

Participer à l’amélioration de l'accueil et des services en Vallouise :

Nous nous attachons à véhiculer une belle image des acteurs de la Vallouise et encourageons chacun à accueillir au mieux la clientèle.

Former le personnel de l'Office et faciliter l’intégration des nouveaux entrants :

L’office propose à son personnel présent à l’année des formations sur les tendances et l’évolution du tourisme.

 

Les saisonniers sont également formés chaque début de saison et bénéficient notamment d’un éductour mis en place par Destination Ecrins (organe de promotion du Pays des Ecrins).

Agir en interne sur l’environnement et sensibiliser nos visiteurs et partenaires au développement durable :

Vous trouverez à votre disposition un panneau de co-voiturage à l’extérieur de l’office à Vallouise.

 

Nous nous attachons à travailler avec des prestataires locaux et à inciter ainsi les acteurs du territoire à se développer.
